Lynne will be going through her stash and sending one lucky winner a surprise package to someone that remarks and gives bloggie love on each of the participants.

I had fun with both my celebrations and there are stories behind each one.

National Pig Day

I have always loved piglets and always wanted one as a child. I think it had to do something with my mother reading me the story of Charlotte's Web and then seeing the animated movie. I cried when Charlotte died and I felt so sad for little Wilbert. I still love pigs but reality set in as I grew up and they don't stay small and cute they get BIG so I'll just look at cute pictures of them and visit the pig barn at the local county fair now.

I used the Animal Kingdom Cartridge and my Cricut to make bookmarks for my youngest two children. They have to read at least 10 minutes every night and this is a nice way to mark their spots in the books they are reading since they are starting to read chapter books.

I used scraps and the bookmarks are reversible.
I cut the bookmark out twice, once backwards, so I could glue the paper together to make it stronger. I then cut my pink piggie a little bigger than the piggie that is part of the bookmark. I had to cut the tail off the piggie underneath so it wouldn't show through.

Now for my other fun project that was just perfect for me. I swear my oldest son invented this day - National Something on a Stick day.

When my eldest son was a teenager, he use to joke that instead of having hotdogs on a stick (corndogs) they should put chicken on a stick. It was our inside joke when we would go to eat so in honor of him and his 28th birthday that was February 20th, I designed and made him this special card.

I made this picture large so you could read the outside of the card and after I finished the card I discovered I made a mistake. Can you find it? Oh well, just one more thing for us to laugh at.

Now the inside...
I created the chicken file and cut it out with my Eclips.

Your next stop along the way of the calendar is Lynne. Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on April 13, 2013, for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!
