Watermelons and Picnics Blog Hop

This is the Watermelons and Picnic blog hop where we have lots of creative things to express our love of summer and picnics and watermelon. I am your hostess, Jearise (AKA Lorby), and I hope you enjoy all the fun and talented projects we are showcasing today.

I will be giving this digital stamp to one lucky winner of a drawing in the next few days. Just leave comments for the ladies since they work so hard and come follow me on my blog.
I ask that people don't download or copy this digital stamp without my permission.

So grab your family, friends and neighbors and let's go on a picnic...

First Card:

I had fun putting this card together. I decided to try my hand at free hand drawing a watermelon and this is what I came up with. I used colored pencils to color it and then markers to highlight areas. Finally, I added Mod Podge glitter to make it sparkle. The Simply Sweet words came from my friend Tee's blog: One Scrap At A Time. You can go there yourself to get the words and see her watermelon she made for a post on July 8th.
I tried to show you the glitter here.
Second Card:
This card came about while looking for background paper for the card above. I pulled out my "The Summer Stack" from DCWV and they had adorable paper in the stack with watermelons on it. I used the Simply Sweet quote again from One Scrap At A Time and the Blue Denim twine came from My Life in Arts n' Carts store. The striped background paper is from DCWV but I don't remember what stack.

I have to show you what I did with my buttons.
I stacked and glued them and I spaced them out some instead of bunching them up. I like the look.

Thank you for joining me on our picnic and I hope you have room for more watermelon at Tee's picnic.

  1. Cute cards! I've seen glitter mod podge in stores, but never really seen too much of it used before. It really looks great on projects, so thank you for the up-close image of that :) I love what you did with the buttons -- I also like how you spaced them out instead of bunching them together :)
