20 Days of Easter - Day 2

Here we are day two of our Easter count down and today I would like to share another type of basket I made. This tray is from the SVG Attic set Spring Fling. I've used this tray in the past for decoration and am using it again for Easter. I find it very versatile.

The paper used is from DCWV's Country Time stack. The press on half pearls and lace were from the discounted dollar bins at Michaels. They have lace and half pearls and all sorts of other stuff on clearance right now for 50 cents. The flower is a paper white flower from my stash that I used apple green Glitter Mist on.

Just a note...The ribbon is a teal color but the same color green as the flower and half pearls run through it. It's hard to see in the picture and the green in the teal ribbon looks to be a dark brownish green when it fact it is more of the darkish green that is on the flower.

Thanks for dropping in today and see you tomorrow.

Only 18 more days till Easter!

FRIENDSHIP AND FLOWERS

FRIENDSHIP

Today I am thinking of all the wonderful people I have met through my life that I can call friend. Some have slipped through while others have lingered for awhile and finally those few have stayed around to be with me through all sorts of ups and downs.

I've learned that friends don't have to be someone you see every day or call once a week. A friend is someone that you might not see for years and then cross paths again and the years that you've been apart just melt away.

I have many friends but I have only a few that are close enough that I would call them sister even though no family blood runs through our veins and those are the ones that I don't talk to as much as I should or see as often as I should but I am still there for them in spirit during good times and bad and they are there for me also. We might not always see eye to eye but our friendship is deeper than that and we can feel comfortable being different with each other. Friendships are built on similarities but these friendships go deeper and last a lifetime and you can't explain why.

As I have gotten older, friendship has taken on a new meaning, not one of sister but as mother. I have a few friends that are young enough to be my daughters and even though I am only a friend, they still turn to me for motherly advice as well as friendship.

Finally, there are those that have become close to my heart and I've never met them in person. We have forged a bond through our crafting and the internet. I talk with them on Facebook almost daily or at least once a week and our casual crafting acquaintance has become a true friendship where we feel comfortable enough to open up and tell things that even our family might not know about us. I know some will say it's because we can hide behind a computer screen that we feel we can bare our soul. I disagree. I feel it is because the computer takes down the boundaries of distance so that we can make friends we may never meet in person but if we did, we would also become close.

Today I am showing another project I made for the teacher's lounge as a decoration and then had a drawing and gave it away. I was in the checkout line at Marshall's when I saw this awesome big mug. The price was right so I just had to grab it.

Once it was home, I decided I needed to give it something special so I filled it with a fall bouquet of paper mums from SVG Attic. I received lots of compliments on the flowers and you can certainly see why. The flowers were made from the Autumn Speldor Set. I embossed the leaves and added a touch of Stickles glitter glue to the center of each flower.

Shadow Box for SVG Attics

Good Morning,

I've been out of the loop of creating lately due to school. Once you have children, your life becomes theirs with all the school and after school activities so it's hard to find time to craft but I have found a little here and there and with that created this.

I made this beautiful shadow box using some of the files from SVG Attic.

I love the way this turned out and I love making shadow boxes. They make great bridal shower, wedding and anniversary gifts.

DT Monday for SVG Attic

Hi all.

I have taken the "Down on the Farm" set from SVG Attic and turned it into a cute birthday card. My 6 year old son liked it so much he asked if I would save it for his birthday and if he could now have a farm themed birthday part. We'll see but in the meantime let me share what I made and how I made it.

I took the barn from the set and down sized it to 6 inches and then I copied and pasted the identical barn right next to the first one. I then overlapped the two barns just slightly. I lost the one overhang on the barn roof but that's okay because the brown frame hangs over some when you glue it on so you don't notice.

I brought all the other parts into Sure Cuts A Lot and made sure they fit over the bard. I set all the other parts of the front of the barn at 6.00 inches for width.
I glued everything onto the red barn before gluing it onto the white cardstock because I had some cutting to do. I put the criss/cross pattern on the barn doors but then I had to use my x-acto knife to cut around the edges so the doors opened. I left a slight gap when gluing the criss/cross pattern on because I knew I would need to slice between the doors.
I found a great way to give ordinary paper some texture. I put on thin lines of Sctoch's quick drying glue and then rubbed it as it started to dry.
I cut my chicken at 1.250 inches so she's fit in the loft window.

I cut my cow at 2.130 inches in width. The word bubble is from the Sure Cuts A Lot program and it's shape library.
My cow was so small that I had to draw the inside of his ears and spots on.
Inside of the card.

Hope you enjoyed my farm themed birthday card as much as I enjoyed making it and I look forward to seeing you soon.

SVG Attic Monday

Good morning and welcome to Lorby's World.

Today I created a retro 70's oven using the newest file from SVG Attic entitled Kiss the Cook.

Don't you just love that cupcake surprise! The cupcake insert is part of the file.

Kiss the Cook comes with different size canisters, the oven with cupcake insert, a recipe box with recipe card inserts and dividers. This set would make the perfect birthday or bridal shower gift for sure.

Thanks for stopping by today and Hugs from Lorby's World.

DT Monday for SVG Attic

Click here for the Pink Buttons and Bows Blog Hop.

Good Monday Morning,

Today I would like to show you a gift card holder I made for a little girl's birthday party my daughter was invited to. There were only two files involved making this card and both came from SVG Attic.

I used the gift card holder from the Be Mine set.

The crown came from the Baby Girl set and I cut the crown out at 4.250 inches wide by 3.000 inches tall. I used a background but made sure not to glue it over the slits in the gift card holder.

Thank you for stopping by for my DT Monday at SVG Attic and don't forget to stop by their face book site at SVG Attic Face Book Page.

SVG Attic just released the sweetest spring set called Welcome Spring. It's hard to decide which I love the most in this set but have you ever seen a birdcage like that?
