June Hop: Basic Card Folds Using Double Sided Paper

Welcome to A Year of Card Techniques Blog Hop where each month we feature a different card technique.  We’ve assembled a team of card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a great variety of cards and ideas.
June‘s hop is devoted to basic card folds; featuring drapery/curtain fold, peek-a-boo fold or double-z gate-fold.  And we’re adding a twist of using double-sided paper.
If you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:
We have an amazing sponsor this month, Candy Spiegel.

You should  have arrived here from Wilma. If you're visiting  here first, you might want to start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing and increase your chances of winning by commenting on  each blog.

I started out with the "curtain" fold and made a few cute everyday cards.  I watched many different videos on how to do this and different crafters use different measurements for their folds. Do a You Tube search for curtain fold card and try a few of the different measurements to see which one you like best.

I like to donate handmade Christmas cards to Veteran Homes across the United States and I start early making them so I have at least 50 to send out. I thought the curtain fold could be used to make a few cute Christmas cards. I used embossing folders for the background.

Next I tried the PEE A BOO FOLD card. I like it but it looks like the Father's Day shirt cards that were big a few years back. Just flip it around in your mind and you'll see what I'm talking about. LOL

The digital stamp is from Bugaboo Stamps and I used my color pencils to shade it.

Now  you’re off to visit with Amanda. Hope you had fun and thanks for stopping by.  See you next month with another technique!

Here’s the full line-up in case you get lost:

  1. Quite a nice array of cards! I found the same with the drapery fold...lots of options available. I especially like that first one...and the last one is adorable...and SO true! At least in my household! I enjoyed hopping with you!

  2. So many drapery folds . . . you put me to shame. Those last two were super cool . . . as I didn't think to angle both sides of the paper before folding. Fabulous job.

  3. Wow, so many cards! And they are all wonderful. I especially love that last card and the stamp is so cute. You colored it to perfection. It was a pleasure hopping with you.

  4. I love the papers you used. They really lent themselves nicely to these techniques. I could NOT figure out the double-drapery, so I'm especially impressed by your Christmas cards - love 'em!

  5. Great cards! I really love your peek a boo card! It was great hopping with you again.

  6. Very pretty. The colors really contrast on the drapery folds which makes them stand out.

  7. Someone loved the drape fold technique ;-) Great cards Jearise and so many. Love the last one...and yes, it reminds you of a shirt, maybe it's due to the color of the design paper, but great idea to convert the fold into a shirt LOL...wonderful cards and thanks for hopping with us...see you next month.

  8. This is a great collection. I really like the solid blocks of color - makes everything look very elegant! Wonderful job!

  9. Love all the cards...especially the lady and her coffee! I can so relate!

  10. Love them all - and so sweet of you to send cards to the veterans!

  11. Fabulous cards! You've got this folding method down pat, just amazing!

  12. Love your pretty cards with the curtain fold and the peek-a-boo fold! Enjoying the hop and getting some ideas to try out!

  13. Haha! The "Father's Day Shirt Cards..." Yup. Can totally see it! But I love your Christmas drapery fold cards. Totally reminds me of a fireplace mantle at Christmas. Gorgeous!
