The 20 Days of Easter - Day 3

It’s Friday! I hope you get some Easter decorations up this weekend. I know I will be doing that. I’ve been making all these decorations and now I need to start decorating.

I didn’t get to post yesterday and was going to in the evening but was so tired that I fell asleep to today there will be two posting so please join me twice.

I designed this bunny rabbit in Inkscape and then used my Sizzix eClips to cut him out. He turned out cuter than I thought he would. I had made him a year ago and didn’t like the way he looked so I just saved the file and forgot about it until this past week. I opened the file up and decided to do some tweaking since I’ve learned more about Inkscape in the past year.

I used Bazzil cardstock with color core and then instead of inking around the sides of the bunny, I sanded it. I also sanded his body parts to give it a different look and I like the way it turned out. The paper was red underneath but not a bright red.

I used an embossing folder to give the bunny's tummy some texture and I went over the raised area lightly with chalk ink.

If you want to design your own svg files for svg cutting machines, Inkscape is a free design program to download. You can find lots of videos on line on how to use it. It takes a little bit of time but once you learn, there is so much you can do and it’s FREE!

You can not only make cutting files but you can do blog buttons and digital layouts. I really like my Inkscape and I really, really like that it's free. :)

Seuss' Imagination Blog Hop

“Think left and think right and think low and think high.
Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”
― Dr. Seuss

Don't hop on pop but hop on top of the Dr. Seuss Blog Hop, where a bunch of talented people came up with their own interpretations of the wonderful imagination of Dr. Seuss. The skies the limit when you have an imagination like Dr. Seuss and talent like those in this hop. Our hop today is hostessed by Jearise in Lorby's World (That's me!) and so this is the beginning my friend.

I have some fun blog candy for this hop. I have a stuffed Cat in the Hall and a fun Thing 1 and Thing 2 craft plus a $10 gift card to Michaels. I know they're silly but doesn't that follow in the steps of Dr. Seuss?

How to win: 1. Become a follower of my blog  2. Leave a comment letting me know about #1 and what you think of my project.

I had to get creative again in Inkscape and this time made the famous Cat in the Hat hat. But I turned it into a vase with some silly flowers and I filled the vase with goodies to eat.

Hat: own design using Inkscape and my Eclips
Flowers: die cuts for my cuddle bug attached to large sized paperclips

Last but not least, here is a great site to go to where you will find all sorts of fun foods and goodies to delight your little ones today. Enjoy: Babble

This is my favorite, kid friendly Dr Seuss site: Seussville

Hello Kitty and Friends Blog Hop (Nov. 5th and 6th)

Hello everyone and welcome to the Hello Kitty Blog Hop! We have lots of FABULOUS projects and prizes for you today, so make sure you make a stop on every blog! This hop is a 2 day hop, so you have plenty of time to get through all of the blogs. If you've arrived here from Tammy's blog you're on the right track! If you're stopping by my blog today and want to start at the beginning, please visit Emily's blog
    *********************************
Today we had a birthday party to go to so I made this special Hello Kitty birthday card since we are doing this fun and special hop.

I found my baker Hello Kitty over at Pudgy Bunny's Hello Kitty. There was a lot more to this coloring page but I got rid of everything but my baker kitty. I converted her to an SVG and used SCAL to cut it out. I designed the cake in Inkscape.
I used Stickles on the cap and for her nose. I had the pink button nose cut out and dropped it and something that small disappeared into scrapbook heaven and will only be discovered again through the suction of the mighty Dyson. I cut the whole cake and plate in brown but I went over the plate in silver stickles and I used prismatic glitter for cake frosting edging.

I had fun layering my kitty as you can tell.

Thank you for looking today and joining us on the Hello Kitty Hop. Now trot on over to Ashley's Blog and remember to leave a comment at each and every blog along the way to be eligible for the grand prize drawing. Jearise in Lorby's World

I'm Quakers About You Blog Hop

If you're looking for the Hello Kitty Blog Hop for today, please click on this link: Hello Kitty

Welcome to the "I'm Quakers About You" Blog Hop being hosted by Gill across the sea at Creations By Gill

Please take time to stop at all the blogs and leave comments. We all love to hear what you have to say about our projects. : )

    *****************
I made a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 square flip up card with a rubber duckie theme. The song from Seasome Street kept playing in my head...Rubber Ducky, you're the one. Da, Da, Da.

The ducky and waves I designed myself in Inkscape and then cut out using my Cricut Expression and SCAL.  I found other waves but I was looking for a simple one so came up with my own.
This part was tricky. I printed out the words on my printer and then cut around them using my Cricut. I didn't have a cartridge so I couldn't do the center cut. The words are a little off but not too bad for just measuring and flying by the seat of my pants. lol

The above two frames show the letters I used in SCAL and at what settings.
This is what my svg ducky looked like before I broke him apart and cut him out. I made an eye for him but decided to go with the googly eye. I also used stickles for the center of the bow instead of the extra piece I made.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look and I hope you will leave a comment be it good or bad. Jearise in Lorby's World.

If you have come across this hop accidentally and would like to see all the cuteness we have to offer, please start at the beginning back at Gill's. Otherwise, please continue on to Barbara's blog.
