My family moved from Michigan to Tucson back in 2001 and we lived there for 8 years before moving to Austin, Texas. I'm still in love with Tucson and miss it daily. My in-laws and very close friends still live there so we go back at least once a year to say hello.

A little about Tucson. Tucson is a valley surrounded on three sides by three different mountain ranges. We lived at the base of Mount Lemmon which has the northern most ski resort in North America.

Due to the mountain ranges, the sun sets quickly but leaves the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. The days in the summer are hot but the nights cool off and in winter, Tucson can even get a dusting of snow now and then.  Sometimes enough to build a snowman. The snow melts as fast as it comes but it's always a pleasant surprise for the kids.

I found a balloon shape in my Cricut cartridges on line and cut it out three times using a cardboard. I'm not for sure of the thickness of the cardboard but I needed three pieces to make it high enough.

I used embossing powder for the
"Happy Birthday".

I made a mistake and didn't but the width wide enough so I added lace to the edge of the card.

PAWPRINTS ON MY HEART

Thank you to our sponsors for this hop. Check out their blog and their prizes for this hop.

AudRey Mysterio

Thank you for joining this hop that showcases our furry family members who are so dear to our hearts.

My furry babies outnumber my children right now: three cats and two dogs compared with four children. I would have more fur babies if  we had the room for them.

Today I did a layout to showcase the newest member of our household. Bea is a sweet English bulldog. My American bulldog mix passed away in August and in September an ad appeared on Craig's List with the heading "Broken English Bulldog." My curiosity got the best of me and I opened the ad and decided I had to contact the owners. Bea started out being able to hear, but because her owners didn't know how to care for her properly, she got a bad infection in her ears that left her deaf.

The people I got her from were not the original owners but people who stepped in to help her. She now is living at our house and is spoiled rotten. She is clingy due to being deaf but we like it. She's a 50 pound cuddlebug.

The animal print paper is from the DCWV Animal Paper Stack that came out years ago. I don't think you can find it any longer. :( I used my Cricut Explore Air to cut out the dog and paw designs. I hand cut the banner.
***************************
This is a close up of what I wrote plus shows so of the extra touches I added to the layout such as buttons and glitter.

*******************************
Now for some scrapbooking magic...

I did the cute little banner on the top of the layout and I came up with a great way to string yarn through the tiny little holes. I needled wasn't big enough for the yarn and using a needle with a eye that was big enough would make the holes in the banner too big. I came across my needle threader and put it to work and it worked perfectly!

*****************************
Thank you again for joining our hop and meeting our furry loved ones. If you found my blog, which is at the very end, and want to see all the terrific fur baby projects, please head to the beginning at Connie Can Scrap's blog.

Baked Salmon with mayo and honey glaze

Here's the scoop on this fish recipe. I found the recipe on line, followed it exactly, tasted it and found it was way too salty and I LOVE salt. So if I say something is too salty, believe me, it's too salty.

I'm going to revamp the recipe so it shouldn't be as salty for you.

I started with about a 3 pound whole fresh salmon fillet.

Set oven to bake at 350 degrees.

Mix following ingredients: This mixture goes on top of the salmon.

1 cup mayonnaise

2 T. ground garlic and parsley mixture
1 T. lemon juice or more to taste
1 T. Lawyers seasoning salt (The original recipe called for 2 T. seasoning salt which was too salty.)
1/4 cup honey **If you're not a sweet tooth person, you can use less/to taste.
(Honey is my secret weapon because it makes a glaze.)

Mix all ingredients above together until smooth and set aside while you're laying your salmon out.

Prep a cookie sheet with a tin foil to cover the whole thing (You'll thank me later.) and spray lightly with cooking spray. Place salmon fillet on prepared cookie sheet with skin side down.

Spread above mayo mixture over salmon and make sure to cover the whole fillet on top.

Place in oven and bake for 25 minutes or until flaky in the middle when broken with fork.

Hey, just because it's ugly, doesn't mean it's not good.

When you take it out of the oven, you should be able to use a metal spatula to cut through the salmon just down to the skin and it should slide off the skin when you dish it out.

It doesn't look that appealing, but wait till you try it. There was none left at my house. Once everyone is done eating, you can just roll up the tin foil with extra sauce and skin and through it away. Easy clean up!
