Thankful Hearts Blog Hop

Please Click here for the Things I'm Thankful For Blog Hop.

Thanksgiving is one of those holidays which always seems rushed! Rush to get the turkey and all of the fixin's. Rush to make out your Black Friday Shopping List and then rush everyone home to go do your shopping. Rush to have dinner done either before the football games or during halftime. Rush to visit family and friends. Rush to Eat and Eat and Eat! And when all is said and done and the rush is over - you might say "I'm grateful just to sit down and relax"!

Well, this year is different, it's time to sit back, take it easy without the rush. With Thanksgiving being one of our favorite holidays, it is a time to be thankful, reflectful, and to have a thankful heart. Sasha, Lynne's 6 year old granddaughter, has a heart shaped box which was conceived from a cartoon character that she watches,  Kai-lan. Kai-lan is a Chinese girl that wears a heart-shaped box around her neck and fills it with things that makes her heart happy.

We want to share "what makes our heart happy" and thankful through either cards and/or layouts. It is time to reflect and remember that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated to give thanks to God for a bountiful Harvest. Our Harvest is our lives. We are expressing our Thanks from our hearts to God and the people who have come into our lives whether they be family or friends.

We do have some blog candy to offer to help you finish your fall projects just in time to start your holiday projects which include self-stick gems, stick pin, Candi foam pads, and a Family Scrapbook Kit along with a paper mache heart to decorate to hold the things that make your heart happy! Its a vicious cycle isn't it. To be eligible for the blog candy, please leave a comment on each of the participants.

Thank you so much for hopping along with us today! Have a very Blessed Thanksgiving with the things that make your heart happy!

God Bless,
Hugs and Love,
When the lovely ladies were putting this hop together they requested that we include two things: the word "thanks" and hearts. I have the world thanks in my Happy Thanksgiving button. I know it's a stretch but I'm going with it. I don't have hearts on the outside of the card but I have put some hand drawn ones on the inside.

Let me explain...I love making cards for family and friends this time of year and remembering my older relatives who don't get a lot of mail anymore or out and about like they use to, but I forget that I have three young lovely children who love mommy's crafts and always want to craft along with me (at least the two youngest ones do.). I found this absolutely adorable turkey last night at Cuttin' Up With Class and thought he would make the cutest darn card but who to send him to - my children. I know they will giggle when they see him and inside I can tell them how thankful I am for them and add hand drawn hearts

The turkey file had two different turkeys in it. I wanted the turkey looking straight at me so I brought him into my SCAL program, broke apart the two turkeys but left the one I wanted at the size it came in.

I actually took a DCWV fall card and cut the card in half so I would have the green and flower design as part of my turkey body. See how I put all the colors and designs on the mate so they would cut at the same time?

I also ended up cutting a 2 inch circle using my Martha Stewart circle cutter and using that for the body that is flat against the wings. I curled the tips of the feathers using a pencil and I added gold inking to each feather tip.
The side feathers I glued down under the body and then used a foam pop to lift them at the tip.
I used Jim Holz Distress embossing powder in Vintage Photo. Its suppose to have a vintage look but I never seem to come up with that but I do get a nice bumpy texture on things.

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my turkey and I want to wish all of you a blessed Thanksgiving. Jearise in Lorby's World.
